My dog's mushy, smelly poop is leaving wet spots. What's wrong?

Blue, 2 nights in a row, pooped on his cage. It is mushy, and smells weird. When he sits down on the couch, there is a wet spot where he sat, but it isn’t poop. What could be happening?? Please help!! Pet's info: Dog | Shar Pei | Male | neutered | 6 months and 8 days old | 70 lbs

I suspect that what you describe could be actually liquid feces or if not it could be anal sac fluid which can be expressed excessively in cases of gastrointestinal issues. Soft stools can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Blue evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may choose to check for parasites and to start medications depending on the results.
