My dog's head shakes like a bobblehead. Is it a seizure or normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 1 year and 5 months old | 30 lbs

My dog had a short episode last night where her head was shaking - almost like a bobble heard or a tremble - but the rest of her body was still. Her heart rate & breath was normal, but her head was shaking pretty uncontrollably. Did she have a seizure, or is this something not too worry about?

That could have been something called a focal seizure. If she was aware of her surroundings (ie would respond to her name), it likely wasn't a seizure. I would recommend mentioning it at her next visit, or taking her in right away if it happens again. Try to get a video if you can if it happens again.
