Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 8 months old

Her kittens are 6 weeks old. 1. when can we introduce them to other adult cats in the house? 2. The middle kitten, has herpes I think . Still treating her with tobrex. It has been 10 days already. Should I continue till it’s all gone ? 3. Their mother is in heat again, will this affect her feeding them? 4. How can we train them on litter. I have been putting them in the litter box 10 minutes after eating. But still they do it outside . I put their stools it in the litter box but not workin

Hello. I would wait another couple of weeks before introducing them to the rest of the adult cats in the home. You can continue the Tobrex, but if the kitten is still symptomatic, you may need to talk to your vet about either another medication, or reassessing the diagnosis of herpes. A female cat can & will go into heat & get pregnant while nursing an existing litter. Not an ideal situation because this can be really hard on her body. Best to rest her through a couple of heat cycles before rebreeding. Keep doing what you are doing with the kittens & the litter box. They are babies & still rely on mom to clean things up. They should start using the box soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
