Why is my goldfish's healed cut turning yellow? Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Fish | Gold Fish | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 7 months old

So my gold fish cut himself 5 months ago trying to get inside a small ceramic log that my picasimus was hiding in. The cut is completely healed. The picasimus and the log is in a separate tank permanently. But now he's starting to show signs of yellowing where the cut was before. Should I be worried?

Thanks for reaching out about Cranky. The yellowing could be an indication of scar tissue, a result of the healing prospect. But, it could also be a sign of a fungal infection, invading the previous healing skin. If the skin worsens, a veterinary visit is recommended for a diagnosis and treatment plan. Good luck.
