Why is my Shih Tzu's eye problem returning despite medication?

Hello, my 10 yr old shitzu has been having serious eye problems for over 1 mo. She is on the tailed end of Triple Anti--W/HC Ophthalmic ointment, Enrofloxacin 22.7mg, Prednisone 5mg. Almost immediately Zoey was getting better and clearing up well. Yesterday i noticed her left eye again closing. This morning i needed to clean a crusty eye. She is feeling funky again and eye has a bright pink covering above eye again. All meds have been giving as directed. Help!!? Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old | 11.9 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. At this point given she has not improved, I would recommend you consider having her evaluated by a veterinary ophthalmologist who can recommend further. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!
