Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old | 11.9 lbs

Hello, my 10 yr old shitzu has been having serious eye problems for over 1 mo. She is on the tailed end of Triple Anti--W/HC Ophthalmic ointment, Enrofloxacin 22.7mg, Prednisone 5mg. Almost immediately Zoey was getting better and clearing up well. Yesterday i noticed her left eye again closing. This morning i needed to clean a crusty eye. She is feeling funky again and eye has a bright pink covering above eye again. All meds have been giving as directed. Help!!?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. At this point given she has not improved, I would recommend you consider having her evaluated by a veterinary ophthalmologist who can recommend further. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!
