My hamster has a tumor and lost fur. Is it cancer? Will fur regrow?

My hamster just had a hugh pus filled tumor on his right testical (castration) he lost his furr some time ago what could of caused it and will he get his furr back .... the vet didnt like the look of the surrounding tumor said it looked cancerous which worried me i just want to find some answers

Thanks for reaching out about Chip and including photos. If the tumor site is infected, antibiotics might help calm the area down, but is not a treatment of the tumor. Anti-neoplastic treatments are possible in hamsters but difficult. Surgical excision, radiation therapy, oral anti-cancer medications, have all been used in rodents, and are possible. Fur is likely to grow back after healthy tissue is present. Good luck.
