My puppy squeals, bites her leg, and limps sometimes. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Cocker Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 25 days old | 9 lbs

My 12 week old puppy randomly squeals at her back leg and sometimes bites it. It's not everyday. When I touch her legs and Bentley squeeze she never cries. My husband said she limped today for about 3 metres but has been walking fine since. She is a cocker spaniel and we also have her older brother who is 16 months old and they can at rough together bit its weird how it's seems to be there so.e days then nothing for a couple of days

Hello. It is difficult to say what might be going on with Bella, but one thing that comes to mind is a possible luxating patella, essentially, her kneecap pops out of place. She may outgrow this, or she may require surgery if it continues to bother her. Make sure you point out this behavior to your vet at her next set of vaccinations.
