My puppy has parvo. Will she survive until I can get her to a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | 1 month and 19 days old

I think my puppy has parvo and I know getting her into a vet asap is the best thing I'm giving her pedalite about every hour and zofran with it but not every time. I don't know her wiegh cause she is only 7-8 weeks old. I'm scared and trying my best that I can until I can get her in...is there a good chance she'll possibly pass away before I could get her into a vet...I mean she does get up and walk and try to play but of course she gets tired quick and goes to lay down.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Parvovirus is a severe gastroenteritis that affect puppies more often. This is a viral infection so there is no direct treatment for the virus so the treatment per se is directed at treating secondary bacterial infections and mostly helping with the clinical symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and inappetence. This warrants ideally hospitalization with some cases being able to be managed with outpatient care depending on its severity. I recommend that you follow up with a veterinarian who can institute therapy for Allie as soon as possible. The quicker this condition gets treated the better the outcome tends to be. Good luck! Hoping for a quick recovery!
