Puppy not eating/drinking. He's on Pedialyte, can I give food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 30 lbs

Yesterday I had reported that my 8-9 month old pup Patch wasn't eating or drinking. As of this morning he's been keeping down Pedialyte so could it still be what Dr Melanie said it was

I'm sorry to hear that your pup is not well. Unfortunately the free part of this service does not keep past questions in order for us to reference quickly. If you wish to have a continuous conversation with an expert, you will have to request a one-on-one consultation with that person. Otherwise, you will have to treat each entry into the forum like a brand new question. Just to comment on what you have said here, if your pet wasn't eating or drinking before and now is drinking some Pedialyte, that is good. You can now try a small amount of food. I assume Dr. Melanie has already suggested a bland diet to try for your pup. Hopefully he keeps this down as well. I hope Patches feels better soon! Best wishes and take care.
