Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 112 years and 2 months old | 60 lbs
My golden retriever, female, now has a liver issue. Nothing specific but now good. My vet put her on 2 weeks of S-Adenosyl and Hill's Prescritpion Diet for kidney issues. I ask him why he did not give me Hills specific for the liver he said that the kidney specific diet had most of the same benefits, or the same benefits. I will do some research also asap but wondering what benefits in that food or any prescription food that would have similar ingredients or results as a liver diet or why.

Ho, I personally think the liver diet would be the best option. I don’t think the kidney diet will do any harm but it is not the best option. Hill’s L/D has high levels of l-carnicine and l-arginine that are important for the metabolism. You should also see an improvement in the liver condition thanks to Adenosyl supplementation. Hope this helps !
