Hello, there are just so many diseases & conditions that can cause vomiting & diarrhea, distemper is just one of them. Did your vet do any diagnostic tests, check for intestinal parasites, administer antibiotics, fluids, anti-nausea medications? These are all things that may be necessary to find out what is wrong with GoGo & hopefully get him feeling better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hi, and thanks for your question. These signs could be compatible with an inflammation infection of the gastrointestinal system and surrounding organs (like pancreas and liver). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is immediately essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics and possibly further investigations (like abdominal imaging as ultrasound or radiographs) may be needed. If a young puppy is vomiting and having diarrhea my biggest concern is parvovirus. This virus can be treated but takes fluids, antibiotics, nausea medication and sometimes pain medication to get them healthy again. It may be something less serious like intestinal parasites but since he's not eating it still needs to be treated. I would recommend taking him to your vet as soon as possible so they can do a fecal test to rule out intestinal parasites and a Parvo test to rule that out as well.

Poor Athena! If she isn't eating or drinking, is vomiting, and acting lethargic, I would be very concerned that she has a more serious problem. Worms alone should not cause these symptoms. Parvo is a very common and serious issue in puppies this age that could cause the symptoms you're describing, or she could have some other issue such as an intestinal blockage, some other type of infection, or may have ingested something toxic. Regardless, the symptoms you describe are very concerning, so I would recommend taking her to the vet today for an exam. He/she can test her for parvo and may recommend blood work, x-rays, or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.
