My dog has a swollen, painful eye and is also vomiting. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Puggle | Female | spayed | 24 lbs

My dog has been recovering from a pretty bad UTI, but we’re pretty sure she’s better after her emergency visit and medicines. Tonight we noticed her eye is tender, swollen, and hurts her to touch the area around it and she’s vomited dinner from 9 hours ago at the time of posting. Please help!

Poor Mona! She could have an eye infection or may have injured her eye. The vomiting may be due to a GI illness, eating something rotten, a sudden change of diet, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. The eye problem needs to be checked out asap because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.
