My dog has a paw bump from stickers. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 7 years old | 70 lbs

My dog often gets stickers or bits of grass in his feet and as I was cleaning them I noticed this bump. Is this an immediate vet trip or will it heal in time? He walks fine and licks it occasionally

Poor thing. I don't think you need to go to the vet right away unless Thor is constantly bothering at it or seems uncomfortable. You can try doing 5-10 minute epsom salt baths twice a day for 2 days first and keeping it nice and dry between the soaks, and making sure he doesn't lick it (an e-collar is the best way to do that). If it looks worse at any point, or still looks like this after 2 days, then it will be time for a vet appointment. good luck!
