My cat came home sick, can't walk or stand. What's wrong with her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

My cat had been missing since the summer, and 2, days ago she was brought back by strangers. She was walking weird and she didn't seem like she could see very well. Today she won't move, and I think something is wrong with her hind legs because she will paw at her food with her front paws. She's eating fine and I just want to know what's wrong with her. She is very thin but can't stand up by herself. I try to lay her down in comfortable positions but don't know what's right for her. Any advice?

Poor Jewel! I'm sorry to hear that she's having this problem. Unfortunately, these symptoms are all very vague, so there's really no way to know what's wrong with her without being able to examine her and run some tests. It does sound like something isn't right, so I would recommend taking her to the vet today for an exam. He/she can do blood work, x-rays, or other testing if needed to help determine what is causing these symptoms, and get her started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.
