My dog's hind paws are inflamed, itchy, and waxy. What's going on?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years old | 45 lbs

Hello, Val's hind paws are inflamed and itchy. One of the pics shows what seems to be a wart. One of the paws had a histiocytoma excised years ago. It's also waxy in between the toes. The popliteal lymph nodes are very enlarged and seem to be associated with the severity of the condition-- the same problem, though not as severe, have flared up before but subsided on its own. What's likely the cause? Possible home treatments? Would skin scrape identify the problem? Thank you.

In your second picture it does look like Val might have a skin growth that could be a papilloma or wart, or might be something like an adenoma. I doubt that is the ultimate cause of her signs since both legs are affected. Her toes look red and I'd be suspicious of a secondary bacterial or fungal infection. Mites are possible and would show up on a skin scrape. Allergies might also be triggering these recurrent infections. I wouldn't recommend any home treatments especially since this is recurrent - I'd recommend talking to your vet to see what they would recommend as the next step.
