My dog is bleeding from her anus. Why did the vet suggest spaying?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 7 years and 7 months old

My female pug-7years old is bleeding from her anus for past 2 weeks. Vets gave her anti inflammatory and antibiotics but not stopped they said to get her spayed. Hoe will this even help? It doesn't make sense?

If they vet recommended spaying, I wondering if the bleeding is actually coming from her vulva. If it's definitely from her anus, she needs a rectal exam, abdominal x-rays, and then likely a colonocopy to look for the problem. I would be concerned about a cancerous growth.
