My dog's skin grazed near eye while grooming. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavachon | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 24 days old | 22 lbs

Hi I was just trimming around my dogs eyes, he’s a cavapoo so the hair grows quickly and irritates him. He moved quickly and the scissors grazed just above his eye, it’s taken a small layer of skin off but hasn’t bled. Is there anything I should do? Thank you

Poor Oscar! Gently clean the area with warm water. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.
