Can a 14-week-old farm puppy adjust to indoor life and house training?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack-A-Poo | Male | unneutered

Hi, I'm looking at buying a pup. He's 14 weeks old, very friendly and sociable, but until now has been kept in a shed (he's on a farm) rather than indoors. Will he have any trouble adapting to a home and not starting house training etc before 15 weeks? Thank you

No, it should be fine. I purchased an ex-show dog (a male Basset Hound) who was kept in kennels outside, never indoors, and moved him into my home. He was almost two when I did this, and he very easily adapted to living in a home and I potty trained him successfully. It can take months to housetrain a puppy, so be patient. I hope this helps!
