What can my dog eat after pyometra surgery? Safe fruits & veggies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | spayed | 11 years and 7 months old | 20.9 lbs

Lucky had a surgery for the pyometra infection today around 12:30pm. Vet has prescribed Sporidex 250mg, Fortius 10mg and Dexorange syrup. Also he told us to continue Envas 2.5mg everyday. Does this look fine? And I'm too much confused about her diet. Please tell me some safe fruits and vegetables to give her. Thank You!

Hello. The Sporidex is a cephalosporin antibiotic, & the Dexorange is just vitamins, both are fine to administer to your pet. The Fortius is for cholesterol & I have no idea why your vet would prescribe this. We would never use this medication in the United States. I assume Lucky has a heart condition, hence the Envas ( maybe the Fortius ? ). You want to feed her a good maintenance dog food & if she is overweight, either feed less or use a reducing diet. I do not feed much in the way or fruits to dogs, but a bite of apple or some blueberries are fine as long as she likes this. Even a little banana is OK. Vegetables include low sodium canned green beans, or fresh carrots, or even a little squash like pumpkin. Just stay away from starchy veggies like potatoes.
