Hi there! I'm so sorry to read about Choco's troubles. It looks like he has a pustule. This is basically a pimple-like lesion caused very often by a staph infection. Sometimes the lesions are singular, or sometimes they can spread and get worse. If I have dog come in to see me with pustules, I will often prescribe a medicated shampoo to help clean the skin and also moisturize it. Dry skin can cause a break in the skin barrier and allow bacteria to congregate. I also will often times prescribe a course of oral antibiotics, to insure that the infection doesn't spread, and goes away quickly. I would monitor the lesion, and make an appointment to see Choco's veterinarian. They can evaluate Choco's skin and make sure there is nothing else going on, and see if the infection is severe enough for topical and oral medications. I hope you find this answer helpful! Best of luck!

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Boss. I always err on the side of caution, if something abnormal persists, spreads, worsens or other signs develop, you should always get your pet examined right away. This is most likely a bacterial skin infection caused by a staph bacteria. It is not contagious to people or other dogs. This can escalate into a bigger problem so it's important to get him evaluated. Your vet can get a history, perform an exam, then advise you on diagnostics (if needed) and treatment. Puppies can break out with something called puppy strangles due to the staph infection and your vet can see if this is a possibility and start treating it. Good luck
