Can I get clostridium from my parrot's bubbly poop after antibiotics?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Female | unspayed

Can I catch clostridium from my parrot? She was not diagnosed or anything, but she was on antibiotic (baytril) for 3 weeks following a procedure removing a stuck egg. Occasionally she has diarrhea or a small bubble in her feces so we finished Baytril today and started on probiotic. I did smell her feces when I saw a bubble to make sure it did not stink.. It didn't, but I am still a little concerned. Is there anything to worry about? I did take a probiotic pill as well.

Clostridial infections can occur in both humans and animals. As long as you practice proper hygiene before and after handling Gacy and cleaning the cage then there is likely little cause for concern.
