My cat has a cut on its nose. Does it need a vet or will it heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 17 days old

My cat has a cut on the tip of his nose, I have no idea how it happened and it hasn't bled from what I have seen but it may have stopped bleeding before I noticed. It isn't very deep but I was concerned it wouldn't heal naturally. Do I need to take him to the vets?

I would observe the lesion for oozing , infection , bleeding, excessive swelling, or even expanding. If none of this happens and it heals over the next week, then there is no need to take your kitty to the vet. Should the cut not heal, I would have your veterinarian examine it.

Ouch, poor Leo. I would have him seen by a vet for this, as his nose does look swollen and that can be a sign infection. Tonight, you can gently clean the cuts with some water water and antiseptic soap, but have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning.
