Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 years and 2 months old | 6.5 lbs
My cat has been losing so much weight due to tapeworms. I purchased a dewormer over the counter which contained 3 tablets. I cut one in half and been giving him that for a week. This was last month. Nothing seems to change. I left him outside yesterday. When i came home, he seemed different. Today morning, he was still asleep, he’s usually very hyper and follows me around for food. He didn’t do that. He looks sad, very skinny and weak. He’s eating and drinking water but I’m worried.

Poor Garfield! Tapeworms do not usually cause any significant weight loss or other symptoms in cats, so I would be very concerned that Garfield has a more serious problem. I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam when you are able to. He/she can do some diagnostic testing (blood work and x-rays) if needed to help determine what's wrong, and will get him started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.
