My 8-month-old kitten is overweight and always hungry. Is this normal?

I have a kitten that is about 8 mos old & he has a LARGE amount of belly fat. He's already bigger than a full grown cat. He is mostly grey & the reason I say this is because I have heard a rumor that this type of cat may be prone to health issues - we all know reliable rumors are. Should I be concerned about his health? His coat looks very healthy, hee seems to be very healthy & he is very active. We limit how much he eats during the day but he still acts like he's dieing of hunger. Help?! Pet's info: Cat | Korat | Male | neutered | 10 lbs
