My pets have worms. How can I protect my family from getting them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed

My cat has hookworms and tapeworms, and my puppy got hookworms. Is there anything I should do to avoid contracting them? I'm currently in between the deworming sessions waiting to administer the next dosage but I'm unsure of how to make sure my husband and I don't contract them

Make sure both Prissy and your cat are up to date on the flea treatments, as fleas transmit tapeworms. Use good hygiene, washing your hands after petting the cat and dog, and after scooping the litter box. Good hygiene will prevent you from getting the worms. I hope this helps!
