My hamster has a growth in its ear. What should I do to treat it?

My hamster grow something inside his ear can anybody check what happen to him? What should I do now also is there any medicine that I can use to apply on that spot to get that thing rid away?

Thanks for reaching out. Ear abscesses and ear tumors are fairly common in hamsters. You can try to gently clean with warm water and a cotton tipped applicator, but don't rub too hard as these tumors can bleed a fair amount. If the scab comes out easy and it appears as pus, a veterinary visit is needed to prescribe otic and systemic antibiotics. If it seems like a mass (i.e. tumor), a veterinary visit is needed for this treatment. Good luck.

    Thanks for reaching out about your hamster. It seems the scab fell off, probably from scratching. The tumor probably still remains and will likely grow back. Surgical removal via a scapel, laser or cryo-apparatus could be used to lessen hemorrhage. At this point, continuing the ear drops might help to prevent secondary infections. Good luck.
