Are wrinkled paw pads on my senior cat a sign of aging or dehydration?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

Hello, I have an 11 year old American Shorthair cat and I've noticed the pads of his paws are slightly wrinkled. Is this a sign of aging, or could it be dehydration? He does not care to drink much and gets most of his fluid intake from wet foods.

Cat's pad don't generally look wrinkly and it's not a sign of aging. I suppose if Bino was severely dehydrated you could see that but there are other signs of severe dehydration such as sunken eyes and delayed skin tint. Some cats are not good drinkers. Try adding warm water to his canned food to increase the amount of water he takes in. Also try to get a photo of the paws and repost. I hope this helps to point you in the right direction.
