Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 6.8 lbs
Hi! In the last week my 1.5 year old male Yorkie started chewing stuff he’s not supposed to multiple times a day again like when he was a puppy. It hasn’t happened consistently in months. I’m wondering if it’s something I should be worried about. Thanks!

.If Turbo is suddenly chewing again after not having done it in a long time, it could be a sign of anxiety. Has something in his environment changed? Very often a dog, who is wired to crave structure, will get nervous if someone moves in or out (think college kid, for example), if your routine is different, or even if you just rearrange the furniture! One important consideration is how you handle it when it does happen. If you are scolding Turbo when you find something he chewed, he is unable to make the connection between what he did and the scolding (yes, even if you show him the chewed object). This can lead to anxiety because, in his mind, he is being scolded for no reason and he may begin to anticipate being scolded again at any time. If you catch him in the act, by all means give him a firm "NO!" If you don't, there is nothing you can do. If you are not at home when this is happening, you may have to consider crating him while you are gone. Prevention is the key. Good luck with this!
