My cat has a painless lump on his thigh. Is a vet visit needed?

My 8 yr old male diabetic (remissive) cat developed a small lump on rear thigh , I have moved & squeezed it no pain or reaction from him.Honestly cant afford vet visit & subsequent biopsy & lab tests any suggestion

A picture of the lump would be very helpful to try to understand its underlying nature and give you further advices without a vet visit. Please repost your question and attach a pic of the lump with it.
