Why is my senior golden vomiting yellow, lethargic, and not eating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 12 years and 1 month old | 72 lbs

My 12 year old golden has been vomiting very yellow discharge with what looks like large white rice (3 times bigger than a piece of rice) throughout it. She is extremely lethargic and drooling at times. She will not take any food and is just sleeping all of the time. She "clears her throat" once in awhile, like she is trying to get something out but she has not eaten recently to have anything in there. The throat clearing has been an ongoing thing for about the past year.

Poor Ginger! I would take her into a vet now. It can be very serious when a senior dog is vomiting, not eating, and is extremely lethargic. She needs veterinary are now, please take her into a vet right away. Best of luck.
