My dog's ear sounds swishy. Can I give Doxycycline before the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 6 months old | 22 lbs

Bears ear is infected when he scratches if you can hear s swishy like fluid in it. I have doxycline 100 mgs can I begin giving this to him for his ear until I can get him to the vet?

Poor guy. : ( Unfortunately this antibiotic won't help with his ear infection. Most ear infections, unless they are inner ear, are treated with topical ear medication only b/c the outer ear does not have a good blood supply for systemic antibiotics to be effective. It is ok to wait until tomorrow to get Bear seen by your vet and to get this treated appropriately. I do hope that Bear gets some relief soon from his ear infection. Best wishes and take care!
