Cat came home limping the other night. He will not put weight on one of his back legs (right). Their is an are on that leg with fur gone and skin showing and red marks. Further down the leg near paw is a red spot . Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics or antifungal meds (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking. If the skin is broken, Clue is at risk for infection and should see a veterinarian. Place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent further licking or chewing. This may be enough to allow healing if the skin is not broken. If it doesn't heal, definitely see your veterinarian. Causes can include flea bite, allergies, local infection/irritation or foreign body.
