My senior cat with diabetes and kidney disease isn't eating. Vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 lbs

15 year old cat has mild kidney disease, just diagnosed with diabetes and started on insulin on 1-10-19. Cat is still eating very little food 1/2- 3/4 can wet a day few pieces of kibble. Drinks water pees twice a day no poop in 3 days 2 insulin’s shots a day 8 a. M. 8p.m. Very worried about his condition. Should he go back to the vet or give insulin time to work

Hello, thank you for your question about Jacob. If Jacob is not not eating well I would recommend having him rechecked by your veterinarian. It is possible that his kidney disease is leading to nausea and decreased appetite. Continuing to give insulin in the face of a decreased appetite can actually lead to hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. If your veterinarian has no other concerns about his examination they can discuss prescribing an appetite stimulant. Hope this helps, good luck!
