My cat has an open wound near his rear and is vomiting. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

I need help identifying what is wrong with my cat. His name is Juju, he’s about 10 years old now. He recently had a somewhat small-mediumish thing? Piece of tissue or something fall out of him? And it’s a little down and to the right of his anus, and it’s left an open wound :(, I don’t know what this could be or what I should do. I have some photos attached. He also vomited last night and it was mainly liquid

It looks like a tick, especially if there are little black legs on the underside of the body which I can’t see in photos. i would bring Juju into see your veterinarian tomorrow to confirm this (bring the presumed tick in a plastic bag), have the wound examined, cleaned and possibly steroid/antibiotic ointment sent home for it, and to have screening bloodwork run to rule out liver/kidney issues, etc. as the cause of the vomiting. A fecal exam for intestinal parasites and vaccines are recommend as well esp. if he is indoor/outdoor (I am assuming if that is a tick he was outdoors). There is also a new Cat flea preventive that also kills ticks called Revolution Plus that you can ask your vet about. Best of luck!
