Puppy bit dog's testicles. Will the puncture wound heal on its own?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 62 lbs

My puppy bit my dogs testicles and left a pretty large puncture wound. Luckily she didn’t make it to the actual testicle, just through the sack. We are treating it with neosporin and cleaning it. Will it heal j it’s own?

Neosporin will likely not be sufficient to hit infection if your puppy punctured the skin all the way through. Should the wound be red, painful and/or hot, you need to take your dog to a veterinarian for an exam and prescription antibiotics. Your dog could get orchitis from this which could mean that he needs to have the testicle removed in order to heal the infection.

It may heal on it's own, but I would be concerned about it getting infected. Oftentimes, dog bites get infected. I would keep an eye out for signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, and pus), and if you see any of those signs, take Brodie into the vet right away. Best of luck.
