My dog is lethargic, trembling. Vet recommends IV. Should I get second opinion?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog is one years old. He is lethargic, not eating, trembling while sleeping and breathing in, and barely drinking. Went to ER vet and blood is normal along with kidneys. She said he is a little dehydrated but nothing serious. Recommended we come in tmrw for all day iv treatment. Will fall under emergency hours. Should we just get a second opinion? We are military and went off base in Italy for ER. Monday we can try to just go on base. Opinions?

I would do the treatment the vet recommends. They wouldn't have recommended it if they didn't think he needed, and he does sound pretty sick to me based on your description. I'd take him back into the vet. Best of luck.
