My puppy has a non-painful, movable lump under her eye. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 2 days old | 10 lbs

My puppy is around 11 weeks old and while she was sleeping I noticed she has a pea sized lump under her right eye. It is not painful to her and I can move it around. I’m nervous that it is going to get bigger and hurt her.

Thats unusual for a puppy. I recommend to make an appointment with her veterinarian to check it out. Things that come to mind would be a very infected hair follicle, something like a thorn stuck in the skin, a skin abscess and less commonly- a tooth root abscess, a parasite in the skin or a cyst. At home you can try applying a warm compress to the area twice daily. Make sure Willow does not scratch at it as this could lead to further damage. I hope this helps to at least point you in the right direction. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
