My spayed dog has a nipple lump and clear fluid. Is a vet needed soon?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 13.4 lbs

My 3.5 year old spayed shih tzu has clear fluid leak from one teat, not a lot. Just a drop or 2 when pressure is applied. There seems to be a small lump by the teat. It is a little smaller than a pea. Free moving and squishy. No pain. Still eating, drinking and behaving normally. I'm wondering if I need to take her in ASAP? I'm planning a teeth cleaning for the end of February but don't want to wait if she needs to be in sooner.

It's not an emergency to rush Charlotte into the vet asap because she's otherwise acting normally, but I would have her seen by a vet sooner than the end of February. I'd take her in over the next week. I hope this helps!
