Is it okay to feed my kitten both wet and dry food long-term?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 10 days old

How can i get my four month kitten to transition from a combination of wet and dry food to dry food only when she is about 6 months of age? Is it possible, to continue to feed my kitten a combination of both when she reaches adulthood? Is there any harm in feeding her a combination of both when she is an adult? And which is better wet or dry food? can wet food cause any problems for her teeth later on? And what treats or things do you recommend for her dental health?

You don't need to transition Artemis from a combination of wet and dry food to dry food only. It's fine to feed her both her entire life. There is no harm feeding both, and adding wet food in with her dry food has the benefit of getting extra water into her diet. Because you are adding in dry food with the wet food, there's no harm to her teeth. As for treats for her dental health, I like the CET brand of dental treats. Hill's t/d is also a dental food. I hope this helps.

Both are fine to feed Artemis. Not giving her dry food won't affect her dental health, and giving her wet food will add more moisture to her diet. You can feed her the 3/4 wet and 1/4 dry. Feeding her three times a day is fine. I hope this helps.
