Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 30 days old

Hi my 5 month female German shepherd has had drips of blood from where she pees dripping out sometimes. The vet did urine sample at it show crystals in her urine so the vet put her on antibiotics 3 weeks later she is dripping blood again and 2 times vomit and vet put her on antibiotics again. The wants to test her urine in 7 days. Please help is this just a urinary tract infection or could this be something else and she did drip like 20 drops of blood and she could not hold her pee thanks

These signs are very likely to be caused by a urinary tract infection. Genital tract infection needs to be considered though and possible uterine infection (even if unlikely) would ideally need to be ruled out. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation) infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it but urinary stones could be present as well. I would recommend to discuss with your veterinarian the possibility to perform an abdominal ultrasound to rule out presence of urinary stones and genital tract infection.
