My dog won't eat, is shaking, and acting lethargic. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 8 years and 11 months old | 16 lbs

My fox terrier/chihuahua mix has refused to eat today. He only wants to hang out in his crate or on my lap. He is drinking water, and going outside for walks. Tonight he started shaking. Yesterday he helped when I put his harness on. Today he did not. What could be the issue? Oh, I also took off his collar as he seems more comfortable without it.

Poor Broeski doesn't sound like he feels well! His anorexia could be due to things such as dental disease, systemic illness, infection, or injury. The shaking could be due to pain or fever. If he's still acting this way in the morning, I'd take him into the vet to get checked out. I hope this helps!
