Pet's info: Dog | Dogue de Bordeaux | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 19 days old | 30 lbs
I have a dogue de Bordeaux who is 6months old next week. Only 1 of his balls has dropped and I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to get him castrated at this early age as I know that in larger breeds you should wait until they are at least 18 months old. As they are still growing and need testosterone etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cryptorchism is the term used to describe if one or both testicles are not descended in the scrotum. It is a genetic condition. The breeder shouldn't continue to breed this line. It will be fine to wait to neuter Dexter until he is 1 to 1 1/2 years old. I wouldn't wait much longer. The undescended testicle can become cancerous over time. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!
