My dog's mouth is pinkish red. Is it allergies or breed-specific?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 38 lbs

We notice our dog Daisy’s mouth gets pinkish red. It doesn’t look swollen, and her behavior doesn’t change ( as in she still is active and happy). I was wondering if it’s a normal thing for her bred or allergies. She’s an American Staffordshire terrier mix. Thank you

She is cute. She could have some allergies, especially if she is licking or chewing on her body, causing the redness and you could talk to your vet about trying an antihistamine to see if that helps. If it doesn't seem to be bothering her, you could also just monitor for a bit and see how it changes.
