Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 15 lbs
Hi, my sisters hamster got out of her cage and my cat got ahold of him. The hamster has a small wound on his foot and my cat has a bite from the hamster on his lip which was deep enough to cause droplets of blood. We've cleaned up both the hamsters foot and my cats wound but do we have any concern with diseases for either animals? The hamster is well taken care of and would be the only rodent my cat has come in contact with. Is it advisable we bring them in even though the wounds are veryminor?

Cat bites can be very nasty so I always recommend antibiotic therapy and pain management to animals (and to people) who fall victim to their feline. If you decide to hold off and take a wait & see approach, rodents often hide their illnesses until they are very sick - this is a defense mechanism as they are prey animals. They will stop eating, become highly lethargic, and may develop a high fever. As for your cat and the hamster bite, I am less concerned about this but would need to see photograph of the affected area to render an official opinion on the matter. Hope this makes sense.
