My cat has a nose bump after new food. Is it ringworm or allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Male | neutered | 6 years and 6 months old | 11 lbs

I recently switched my cat to a new dry food. He has had a spot on his nose for about 3 days. I am not sure if it is temporary and will go away, if it is a food allergy, or if he should go to the vet. It protrudes from his nose. It’s similar to a mole on a a human.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Louie. I would recommend that he sees his veterinarian to ensure he does not have ringworm. It can start out looking like his nose does. True food allergies typically present with vomiting and diarrhea as well as red itchy skin and hair loss. If the lesion does not resolve within a few days, he will need to be seen. I hope this information helps!
