Why is my Indian Ringneck parrot losing his voice each morning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 7 days old

I have a 6 weeks old male indian ringneck parrot, he's very agile he speaks a lot and loudly. He used to wake up everyday between 6-7am but since 3 days every morning he loses his voice for about half an hour, he tries to speak but only air comes out of his mouth. I've to make him speak for atleast 20 minutes till he slowly recovers his voice. I'm really worried for him.

If this is ongoing for several days I would have a local vet take a look at Joey. It's possible there is an issue such as something stuck in the in his throat or crop, a respiratory issue causing hoarseness, or other underling issue. Ruling out illness or functional problems can help determine if this is the case. Making sure he is eating and drinking, active, and otherwise healthy can also be helpful. If he is screaming a lot in the morning, it could also be causing hoarseness. Providing a few extra toys or a morning treat to focus on may help relieve boredom screaming and help him keep his voice longer.
