My 8-week pug puppy is tiny, not eating or gaining weight. Supplement?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 2 lbs

I just got a pug puppy supposedly 8 weeks old has had shots/deworm but she keeps trying to nurse on older dog and doesn’t eat very much is very tiny. Is there a way to supplement? I’m just worried about her not gaining enough or eating enough.

They do tend to want to nurse even if they have been weaned off milk, so I wouldn't worry too much about this. The puppy food should be sufficient, but If she is eating less than the daily recommended amount (as seen on the bag of food), then you can supplement milk replacer. You would have to buy a special dog milk replacer at the pet store, because the regular cow's milk is different. Below is a link to a good article that explains how to properly wean a puppy off milk and on to solid food. https://www.petcoach.co/article/weaning-puppies/ I hope that helps and all is well with Bulma.
