Cat pee sticks to litter box. How to stop it? Is oil trick safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

When cleaning the litterbox I notice Luna's pee sticks to the bottom and side of it. How can I stop this? I heard spraying the litterbox with cooking oil, then sprinkling with baking soda, and then putting litter in helps. Is that safe?

The cooking oil and baking soda trick is fine to try, but if she is interested in licking it then I would not continue as you don’t want her ingesting any litter by accident. Personally I would just try a different brand of litter to see if it works any differently, it consider lining the litter box with a plastic bag for easy Clean up. Best of luck and I hope one of these ideas works well for you. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
