Bloat can indicate several conditions. It may be constipation, bacterial or parasite infection or kidney failure. Ideally, it should be examined by a veterinarian experienced in treating reptiles and amphibians. Treating at home without a firm diagnose may prove fatal or may complicate any underlying condition. For now, house him in a separate tank, if you have other newts, until you get him to a vet.
