Hi Sadie went in for surgery for her acl on Friday. After surgery she ate a little. And she is not drinking waterMy question is how long does it take for them to eat and drink . We had to take her back in to the vet and she was a bit dehydrated so they gave her fluids again. And some shots for pain.we were sent home with prescription drug she is on Gabapentin 300mg. , rimadyl. Oxycodone. And she is on thyroid meds. Can any of these medication make her feel sick?

Narcotics such as oxycodon can really slow down the GI tract causing inappetance. Carprofen can cause irritation to the GI tract causing inappetance as well. I would recommend calling your veterinarian for their advice as well, but in this situation I would typically stop the ocycodon first and if not improving then I would stop the carprofen. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
